Here is an overview of the park and everything it has to offer as well as information on entrance fees that are not covered as part of the workshop investment. Olympic National Park has a $15 entrance fee per vehicle. If you live in the area and plan on returning during the next year, we recommend buying the annual pass which is $30.

We suggest that workshop participants choose lodging in the town of Forks, Washington. Here are a few suggestions of hotel accommodation:
Forks Motel
Pacific Inn Motel
Olympic Suites Motel
For those interested in camping, the best spot will be the Mora campground just outside of Forks, near Rialto beach. There are also good campgrounds at Kalaloch, Hoh and Salt Creek as well, though a bit more of a drive. Campgrounds fill up fast in the summer, be sure to make reservations well ahead of time.
Day One: The first day of this workshop will begin bright and early capturing the beauty of a Pacific Northwest sunrise at the unforgettable Ruby Beach. From its pebble & driftwood laden sands to its stunning sea stacks, this location will not disappoint in kicking off this location-rich workshop. A short trip down the highway will bring us to our second shooting location of the day, Kalaloch Beach. Departing the Kalaloch area we will head back to Forks and have lunch before retiring to our hotels for a 2-3 hour break during the afternoon hours allowing everyone to recharge and prepare for the second part of the day, when we will visit Rialto Beach before taking a small hike through the forest to our final location of the day, known simply as Second Beach.
Day Two: Our second day will take us back to Second Beach for another shot at capturing all of the beauty this beach has to offer before heading to another amazing location in the park, the rich & vibrant Hoh Rainforest. The Hoh rainforest receives an astounding 140-170 inches of rainfall each year creating a canopy of moss covered trees and a carpet of ferns & mosses that truly need to be experienced by all who can during their lifetime. Exiting the rain forest we will return to Forks where we will again each lunch and then retire to our respective hotels for a brief siesta. After this break we will head over to photograph the forest & streams of the Sol Doc Falls area before heading to Hurricane Ridge for sunset.
Day Three: The third and final day of the workshop will feature stops along picturesque Lake Crescent where we will have the opportunity to hike along a bit of the Spruce Railroad trail, marveling at the lake’s deep blue waters and even catching a glimpse of a waterfall or two. Once again, a short siesta will break up the afternoon after which we will head back north to the Tongue Point / Salt Creek area, a dramatically lonely and rugged stretch of coast for sunset and a fitting end to three days of dramatic landscapes.

I am sorry I am going to miss this one, but I will be at my class reunion in California. I’ve always wanted to visit this place.
Maybe next year Gretchen! Have fun in California!
