The Rugged Oregon Coast 2012

Cape Kiwanda and beyond – September 14th-16th

Investment: $495 per person.

Sunrise: 6:46 am
Sunset: 7:21 pm

Our extremely popular Oregon coast workshop this year will cover a wide area of the coastline both north & south of our “home base” in Pacific City, Oregon.

We suggest that workshop participants choose lodging in Pacific City or Lincoln City. We will be meeting each day in Pacific City. Here are a few suggestions of hotel accommodations:

The Inn at Cape Kiwanda

Pacific City Inn

Motel 6 in Lincoln City

Day One: The first day of this workshop will begin bright and early, meeting in Pacific City, Oregon in the parking lot at Cape Kiwanda next to the Pelican Pub & Brewery.

We will begin the day by photographing the sunrise and exploring the entire Cape Kiwanda area before having breakfast together at the pub and moving south along the coast exploring a number of beaches along the way. Which beaches we visit on each day will depend on various things including conditions and workshop participant’s duration of interest at each location. The southern coast locations you can expect to visit during the workshop include Neskowin, Boiler Bay, Seal Rock, Thor’s Well and other surprise locations. Where we end up, again will depend on various factors but you can expect to have a 1.5 – 2 hour drive back to the hotel after the first night. We will carpool whenever possible.

Day Two: Our second day will begin again by meeting in Pacific City and after photographing the sunrise we will move north along the coast exploring in the same fashion we did during our first day of the workshop. The northern coast locations you can expect to visit include Cannon Beach, Hug Point, The Peter Iredale Shipwreck and Astoria among others. Again you can expect a 1.5-2 hour drive back to your hotel at the end of the second day.

Day Three: We are leaving the third day itinerary open and will discuss our plan with the group deciding on the most interesting locations we visited the previous day or offering our own thoughts on various locations along the coast before heading off for a third day of adventure along the coast!

The investment fee for this workshop does not include lodging, travel or the cost of food. The closest airport to Pacific City is PDX, located in Portland Oregon approx 2 hours east of the coast. A list of things to bring as well as a more detailed summary of the workshop will be sent out prior to the event. We hope to see you there!

  1. Will you be doing this workshop in 2013?

    • Well, we are never 100% sure from year to year but we do usually hold at least one Oregon Coast workshop each year. Thanks!
