Day One: We will be kicking off the weekend by meeting at Crown Point (Vista House) in the Columbia River Gorge at 5:45am to photograph the beauty of sunrise in the Gorge high above it all.
From there we will move down into the Gorge to photograph the amazing waterfalls & lush forests that the area has to offer. Here is an overview of the area complete with hiking distance and map:
We will be photographing Wahkeena Falls (below) and Fairly Falls (above) in the early morning hours before having breakfast at the lodge at world famous Multnomah Falls. After breakfast our second location will be Elowah Falls on the east end of the Gorge. After departing Elowah we will be crossing the Columbia River into Washington and will travel to another beautiful area known as Lower Lewis River Falls.
Day Two: Our second day will be the post processing portion of our workshop and will begin close to 11am (final time TBA) where we will have an opportunity to download some of your favorite images from the previous day of photography, offering image critique and a presentation of post processing techniques as well as demonstrating how to use these tools to take your photography to the next level. The entire day will be devoted to image editing and post-processing, but there will very likely be leftover time for some additional photography for any diehard souls who want to partake of some “extra credit”.
Day 3: The final day of our workshop will once again begin at sunrise. We will then travel deeper into the gorge to photograph the Eagle Creek area and two beautiful waterfalls there; Punchbowl & Metlako falls. At this point, depending on road conditions we may cross back into Washington a second time to pay a visit to Panther Creek Falls. We will wrap up the weekend sometime around 6pm to allow everyone plenty of time to begin their journeys home after a long and productive weekend.
Hotel accomidations, travel & food expenses and any fees related to entry to the areas we will be photographing are not covered as part of your investment fee. Many of the areas have free parking but please be prepared to pay $5 in cash at 2-3 of the locations during our trip.
Minimal – Moderate hiking will be required of distances under 2 miles each during the workshop. If you have any concerns about your physical ability please contact us for more details. The majority of the trails we will be traveling are well maintained and highly traveled year round.
